Hi everyone! How is everyone’s summer going so far? I cannot believe it is already July!
I just want to
be on the beach everyday, all day.
So what are your favorite summer activities? Do you have any summer traditions? Whatever you are doing, I hope you are enjoying it!!
Summer flies by, so soak in the sun and try to relax a bit.
This month we recognize the hardships minorities face when trying to access mental health care. This month is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month!
Although mental illnesses can affect everyone, everywhere, minority communities have little to no access to care and support. In many communities, there is not only a stigma to getting care and support, but many do not have health care or access to good quality care.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) message for all minorities suffering from a lack of resources and access to health care is “You Are Not Alone”. Their message is to help everyone get access to proper care, quality of care and a sense of healing and support from mental health care providers.
NAMI and their advocacy programs have improved health, responded to crises, supported inclusion and non-discrimination, and stopped harmful practices.
